Feedovate team5 min read

Canny and Productboard both deal with customer feedback, but they’re built for different people.

  • Canny is a feedback platform: customers post and vote, your team tracks requests to a roadmap and changelog, and AI captures requests from calls and tickets. It prices on tracked users.
  • Productboard is a product management suite for teams of PMs: customer insights, a hierarchy from goals down to features, roadmaps, specs and an AI agent called Spark. It prices per maker, with five at least, and sells after a demo.

The short answer:

  • Choose Canny if your main job is hearing from customers and showing them what’s coming.
  • Choose Productboard if several product managers plan roadmaps across teams and need strategy and specs in one place.
  • Look at Feedovate if you want Canny’s job with revenue in the ranking at a flat price. We make it, so it’s covered last and briefly.

Every fact below comes from each tool’s own website, and every price was read off its pricing page or help center on the date given.

What Canny is

Canny calls itself an “AI-powered customer feedback platform”. Customers post and vote in a portal, your team moves requests through a public roadmap and announces them in a changelog. Autopilot reads support conversations, sales calls and review sites, pulls out feature requests, merges duplicates and summarizes threads. Since mid-2026, Canny Ideas groups what it finds into internal ideas and insights.

What Productboard is

Productboard is where product managers plan. Customer feedback flows into an insights repository and links to feature ideas, with importance scores and views by segment. From there, teams build a hierarchy from goals to features, plan roadmaps and write specs. Spark, its AI agent, writes voice-of-customer reports with citations and drafts specs and release notes. Customers can post in up to two product portals on Business.

Pricing compared

Canny prices on tracked users: anyone who posts, votes or comments, plus people Autopilot logs. Free covers 25 tracked users; Pro starts at $79 a month billed yearly ($99 monthly) for 100 and rises with your count; Business is priced on request. Checked on Canny’s pricing page, November 3, 2026.

Productboard prices per maker, the people who build roadmaps. Contributors who add feedback are free, 25 of them on Business.

Plan Billed yearly Billed monthly Minimum
Business $59/maker/month $75/maker/month 5 makers
Enterprise Custom Custom 5 makers

From Productboard’s help center, checked October 29, 2026; its pricing page shows no price. AI runs on credits, 500 per maker a month, and Spark pauses when they run out until renewal or a top-up.

What a team actually pays:

Scenario Canny Pro, yearly Productboard Business, yearly Feedovate
2 PMs, 250 customers giving feedback $179/month $295/month (5-maker minimum) $39/month
5 PMs, 1,000 customers $529/month $295/month $79/month
8 PMs, 5,000 customers $1,079/month $472/month $79/month

Canny’s figures above 100 tracked users are from its price slider as recorded in August 2026 (our Canny pricing breakdown). Canny Pro includes up to 10 managers.

So Canny is cheaper for a small team with modest feedback, and Productboard can be cheaper once many customers take part, if you’d use five makers anyway.

Features compared

Collecting feedback. Canny’s portal is the center of the product, and Autopilot adds requests from conversations you already have. Productboard collects feedback into its insights repository from integrations and its portals, and is built for the team to read it, not for customers to browse.

Prioritizing. Productboard links feedback to feature ideas with importance scores and segment views, inside a plan tied to goals. Canny ranks by votes and segments on Pro, and ties feedback to revenue through CRM integrations on Business.

Planning. Productboard’s strength: a product hierarchy, roadmaps for several teams, and specs. Canny’s roadmap is a public view of where requests stand.

Closing the loop. Canny’s changelog tells customers what shipped. Productboard’s Spark drafts release notes.

Integrations. Canny connects Linear, Jira, Slack and more, with CRM integrations on Business, and an MCP server. Productboard lists more than 25 integrations, an API and an MCP server, but caps Jira and Azure DevOps at five connections on Business and puts Salesforce on Enterprise.

Where Canny is stronger

  • A customer-facing portal at the heart of the product.
  • A free plan, and you can start without a sales call.
  • Linear on Pro, and a long integration list.

Where Productboard is stronger

  • Planning across many teams, from goals down to features and specs.
  • AI that writes reports, specs and release notes.
  • Cost per head once many customers give feedback and you need five makers anyway.

Which should you choose?

  • One product team, customers posting and voting: Canny.
  • Several PMs, roadmaps across teams, specs in the same tool: Productboard.
  • You work in Linear: Canny; Linear isn’t on Productboard’s pricing page.
  • You want to start today without a demo: Canny.

Where Feedovate fits

Feedovate does Canny’s job, a portal, a roadmap and a changelog that emails everyone who asked, with requests ranked by value, effort and, on Pro, the revenue of the customers asking. It costs a flat $39 or $79 a month with unlimited end users and two-way Linear and Jira sync on Pro. It has no product hierarchy or specs, so it won’t replace Productboard for teams that plan there. Questions, answered.

Which is cheaper, Canny or Productboard?

It depends on your team and your customers. Productboard Business is at least $295 a month billed yearly (five makers at $59). Canny Pro starts at $79 a month billed yearly for 100 tracked users and reaches about $529 at 1,000. A small team with few customers pays less on Canny; a team of five PMs with thousands of customers can pay less on Productboard.

Does Productboard publish its price?

Not on its pricing page, where Business is sold after a demo. Its help center lists $59 per maker a month billed yearly, or $75 monthly, with five makers minimum.

Does Productboard have a customer feedback portal?

Yes. Business includes two product portals, and Enterprise more.

Can I use Canny and Productboard together?

Some teams collect customer votes in a feedback board and plan in Productboard, but you then pay for two tools and keep two lists of requests in step.

Which one has an AI agent?

Both use AI. Productboard's Spark writes voice-of-customer reports, specs and release notes, using monthly credits. Canny's Autopilot captures and organizes feedback from calls, tickets and reviews.
